CLINTON SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

CLINTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS

-         MAY 19, 2008 –

 

1.                  Call to Order.

 

The regular meeting of the Clinton School Board was called to order by

Mr. Richard McCormac, Board President, at 6:00 p.m.

 

2.                  Roll Call.

 

Those Board members present for the meeting were:  Mr. Nick Gatliff,

Dr. Kyle Hensley, Mr. Randy McCaslin, Mr. Richard McCormac, Mr. Bobby

Pack, Mr. Mickey Parish, and Mr. Kirk Pryor.

 

3.                  Approval of Minutes and Financial Report.

 

Mr. Mickey Parish motioned to approve the financial report, and the minutes of the regular  meeting held on April 21, 2008, as presented.

 

4.                  Hearing / RIF Appeal.

 

Mr. Jim Burnett was present at the meeting to represent Derek Shaw concerning a RIF appeal.  Mr. Eddie Morgan was present at the meeting to represent the Clinton School District.  The Board will render a decision concerning the RIF appeal within ten days.

 

5.                  Employment.

 

A)   Mr. Bobby Pack motioned to employ the classified personnel for the

2008-2009 school year as recommended by the superintendent.   Mr. Kirk Pryor seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (7 – 0 ).

 

B)   Mr. Kirk Pryor motioned to employ the following personnel for the 2008-2009 school year pending State Department approval:

 

      Meggin Crow – ABC classroom teacher

      Jennifer Hendrix – School Based Mental Health Therapist (pending                    

      criminal background check as required by law)

                   

                 Mr. Randy McCaslin seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (7 – 0).

 

C)   The superintendent recommended to employ the following personnel for the 2008 – 2009 school year (pending passing criminal background check as required by law):

 

                                       Randi Newland – 1^st grade teacher

                                       Jacqueline Carter – 1^st grade teacher

                                      Ashley Bradford – 5^th grade teacher

                                      Jenny Jones – 4^th grade teacher

                                      Jayme Brown – part-time counselor (94 days)

 

                  The Board entered executive session at 6:49 p.m. to discuss personnel.   The                 

                  Board exited executive session at 7:19 p.m.

 

                  Mr. Kirk Pryor motioned to employ the recommended personnel.   Mr. Bobby

                  Pack  seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (7 - 0 ).

 

                  D)   Mr. Randy McCaslin motioned to accept the following resignations:

 

                                    a)   Cecil Richardson – Custodian – effective May 16, 2008

                                    b)   JoNell Warren – Intermediate Receptionist – effective at the

                                          end of the 2007-08 school year

c)      Robert Harkrider – Band Director – effective at the end of the

2007-08 school year

 

                   Dr. Kyle Hensley seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (7 – 0).

 

E)      Mr.  Mickey Parish motioned to employ Mr. Ferrell Weaver as

                   custodian (pending passing criminal background check as required by law).        

                   Mr. Kirk Pryor seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (7 – 0).

                                                                                               

6.                  Adjournment.

 

Mr. Bobby Pack motioned to adjourn at 7:29 p.m.   Mr. Kirk Pryor seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (7 – 0).
