CLINTON SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

CLINTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS

CLINTON, ARKANSAS

 

-         MARCH 17, 2008 –

 

1.                  Call to Order.

 

The regular meeting of the Clinton School Board was called to order by

Mr. Richard McCormac, Board President, at 6:01 p.m.

 

2.                  Roll Call.

 

Those Board members present for the meeting were:  Mr. Nick Gatliff,

Dr. Kyle Hensley, Mr. Randy McCaslin, Mr. Randy McCaslin, Mr. Bobby

Pack,  Mr. Mickey Parish, and Mr. Kirk Pryor.

 

3.                  Approval of Minutes and Financial Report.

 

Mr. Mickey Parish motioned to approve the financial report, and the following minutes as presented:

 

                  February 18, 2008       Regular Meeting

                  March 05, 2008           Special Meeting

 

Mr. Bobby Pack seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (7 – 0).

 

4.                  Stipends and Indexes.

 

Mr. Randy McCaslin motioned to table any discussion or decision concerning the stipends and indexes.  The motion died due to a lack of a second.

           

5.                  2008 – 2009 School Calendar.

 

Mr. Bobby Pack motioned to adopt the proposed 2008 – 2009 school calendar as presented.   Mr. Randy McCaslin seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (7 – 0).

 

6.                  Social Studies Adoption (grades 7 – 12).

 

Mr. Kirk Pryor motioned to adopt the following social studies publishers for grades 7 – 12:

 

a.       7^th Grade “Ancient Civilizations” Holt Publishers

b.      8^th Grade “World History” Holt Publishers

c.       8^th Grade “The Arkansas Journey” Gibbs Smith Publishers

d.      9 – 12 Civics:  Civics Today:  Citizenship Glencoe/McGraw Hill

Publishers

e.       9 – 12 World History:  World History:  Survey with Exploring Arkansas

Pearson Publishers

f.        Advance Placement World History:  World Civilizations:  The Global

Experience Pearson Publishers

g.       10 – 12 American History:  American History:  Reconstruction to the

Present McDougal/Littel Publishers

h.       Advanced Placement American History:  America:  A Narrative History

Norton Publishers

 

                  Mr. Bobby Pack seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (7 – 0). 

                 

7.                  2007 – 2008 School Calendar.

 

Dr. Kyle Hensley motioned to change the 2007 – 2008 school calendar to allow April 11, 2008 to be a student day instead of a professional development day.   Mr. Mickey Parish seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously

(7 – 0).

 

8.                  Executive Session.

 

The Board entered executive session at 7:02 p.m. to discuss personnel.  The Board exited executive session at 8:15 p.m.  No action was taken.

 

9.                  Adjournment.

 

Mr. Nick Gatliff motioned to adjourn at 8:17 p.m.   Mr. Kirk Pryor seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (7 – 0).
