CLINTON SCHOOL SPECIAL BOARD MEETING

CLINTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS

CLINTON, ARKANSAS

 

-         JANUARY 25, 2008

 

 

  1. Call to Order.

 

The special meeting of the Clinton School Board was called to order by

Mr. Richard McCormac, Board President, at 5:05 p.m.

 

  1. Roll Call.

 

Those Board members present for the meeting were:  Mr. Nick Gatliff, Dr. Kyle

Hensley, Mr. Randy McCaslin, Mr. Richard McCormac, Mr. Bobby Pack,

Mr. Mickey Parish, and Mr. Kirk Pryor.

 

  1. Employment for Superintendent (2008-2009).

 

A)      Mr. Richard McCormac stated that following the meeting held on

January 21, 2008, the vote was to rescind the extending current                  superintendent’s contract for one year and complying with the wishes of this board he was ready to entertain a motion of non-renewal for the current superintendent’s contract which expires on June 30, 2008, and his contract will not be renewed.

 

Mr. Mickey Parish made the motion of non-renewal for the current superintendent’s contract which expires on June 30, 2008, and his contract will not be renewed.   Dr. Kyle Hensley seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (7 – 0).

 

B)       Dr. Kyle Hensley motioned to appoint Mr. Nick Gatliff, Board Secretary,

to be the contact person to oversee the application process for the superintendent’s position for the 2008-2009 school year pending ADE approval.   Mr. Kirk Pryor seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (7 – 0).

 

The Board discussed the following information:

 

a)      Superintendent will be hired as a one year contract

(2008-2009 school year)

b)      Where to advertise (state wide)

c)      How to pay for the ad (district funds / with approval)

d)      Salary (negotiable)

e)      Where the applications/resumes should be mailed (Mr. McCormac, Board President / P.O. Box 253)

f)        Contact person  for ad (Linda VanHorn, District Secretary)

 

C)      Mr. Randy McCaslin motioned to appoint the current staff to submit the                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 appropriate request we need for state approval to begin the process of advertising.   Mr. Nick Gatliff, the person appointed should submit the ad (upon approval from the state) through the central office, and the current staff.  The ad should be submitted to the ADE for their approval so the Board can begin the process of advertising for the position of the superintendent for the Clinton School District.   Mr. Bobby Pack seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (7 – 0).

 

  1. Adjournment.

 

Mr. Kirk Pryor motioned to adjourn at 5:19 p.m.   Mr. Randy  McCaslin seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (7 – 0).
