CLINTON SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
CLINTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS
CLINTON, ARKANSAS

- FEBRUARY 19, 2007 -



1. Call to Order.

The meeting of the Clinton School Board was called to order by Mr. Randy McCaslin, Board President, at 6:00 p.m.

2. Roll Call.

Those Board members present for the meeting were: Mr. Nick Gatliff, Dr. Kyle Hensley, Mr. Billy Tomlinson, Mr. Randy McCaslin, Mr. Richard McCormac, and Mr. Bobby Pack. Mr. Mickey Parish was not present for the meeting.

3. Approval of Minutes and Financial Report.

Mr. Nick Gatliff motioned to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held on January 15, 2007, and the financial report, as presented. Mr. Bobby Pack seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (6 - 0).

4. Salary Information (survey).

Salary information (survey) was given to the board concerning the percentage of the budget used for all salaries including the required matching. No action was taken, and any discussion was tabled until the next regular meeting.

5. Naming of Auditorium / Arena.

Any discussion regarding the name of the Auditorium and Arena was tabled until the next regular meeting.

6. Shuttle Buses / Power Boat Races.

The superintendent spoke to the board concerning a committee for the Power Boat Races that will be in April, 2007. He said they have asked for permission to use two (2) of our district’s buses to be used as shuttle buses. No action was taken.

7. Personnel.

Resignations.

Mr. Billy Tomlinson motioned to accept the following resignations:

A) Sallie Parish / High School English Teacher (effective at the end of the 2006-2007 school year)
B) Duane Shannon / Fixed Assets Coordinator (effective Feb. 09, 2007)
C) Ken Wyatt / Bus Driver (effective immediately)

Dr. Kyle Hensley seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (6 - 0).

Employment.

Mr. Nick Gatliff motioned to table any decision on employment until exiting executive session. Mr. Richard McCormac seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (6 - 0).

8. Permission to Sell Vehicles / Accessories.

Mr. Richard McCormac motioned to allow the district to advertise and sell the following vehicles and accessories.
A) 1981 Dodge Handicap 1ton #30
B) 1988 Chevrolet Handicap 1 ton #47
C) 1993 Carpenter bus #13
D) 1990 Ford #41
E) Old white dodge flatbed truck from Scotland campus
F) 5.9 Cummins motor
G) Wheelchair lift

Mr. Bobby Pack seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (6 - 0).

9. 2007-2008 Alternative Learning Environment Program.

Mr. Nick Gatliff motioned to discontinue using our local Alternative Learning Environment Program at the end of the 2006-2007 school year, and to use the Crossroads Alternative School during the 2007-2008 school year. Mr. Richard McCormac seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (6 - 0).

10. 2007-2008 School Calendar.

Mr. Richard McCormac motioned to adopt the 2007-2008 school calendar as recommended by the personnel policy committee. Mr. Randy McCaslin seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (6 - 0).

11. Executive Session.

The Board entered executive session at 6:25 p.m. to discuss personnel. The Board exited executive session 7:31 p.m.

12. Personnel.

Employment

Mr. Billy Tomlinson motioned to employ Kari Bradford as bus driver for the remainder of the 2006-07 school year (pending passing criminal background check as required by law). Mr. Richard McCormac seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (6 - 0).

Mr. Bobby Pack motioned to extend Mr. Ken Wyatt’s custodian contract for the remainder of the 2006-2007 school year to eight (8) hours per day. Dr. Kyle Hensley seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (6 - 0).

13. Adjournment.

Mr. Billy Tomlinson motioned to adjourn at 7:34 p.m. Mr. Richard McCormac seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously (6 - 0).
